      The Fish Philosophy

If you’re looking for an energising and proven way to improve your team culture, the FISH! Workshop is your launch pad. Built on four simple yet powerful practices, this interactive session explores how to create a workplace where people feel connected, appreciated, and inspired to make a difference. It’s about putting people first and giving them the tools to play with purpose.

From the moment your team walks in, they’ll learn how small shifts in mindset can create massive ripples in workplace culture. This isn’t a theory session. It’s practical, playful, and proven.

      What to Expect

      Baseline

Before the workshop, your team completes a short, anonymous climate survey to gauge how people are experiencing your current culture. This gives your facilitator real insights to tailor the session to what your team actually needs, not generic assumptions. It also creates a simple benchmark you can refer back to after the workshop to track what’s shifted.

      the four core practices

Through energising activities and real storytelling, we bring the FISH! Philosophy to life in a way that feels relevant for adults at work. Your team explores the four core practices: Be There, Make Their Day, Choose Your Attitude, and Play. These are practical behaviours, not feel good concepts, and they directly shape how people show up, communicate, and work together when pressure is on.

      Make it practical

This is where it turns from insight into action. Participants break down what each practice looks like in your workplace, in your roles, with your customers and teammates. We turn the ideas into simple habits and shared language so people can call it out, reinforce it, and keep it alive beyond the workshop.

      Action Plan

Every participant creates a practical, personalised action plan they can start immediately. Using the FISH! workbook, they map out how they’ll apply each principle back in the workplace, one small action at a time. The focus is on making the change stick through consistency, not big promises that fade after the session.

      Pike Place to Your Workplace

      A fishy Story

The origins of the FISH! Philosophy go back to 1997 when filmmaker John Christensen visited the world-famous Pike Place Fish Market in Seattle, USA.

John was amazed at the crowds that were attracted by the joy, enthusiasm and energy of the fishmongers that worked there, and the large sales this created. He noticed that the actual work of selling fish was arduous and repetitive, however the fishmongers chose to bring joy to their job. And, the results were amazing!

Initially, John produced a documentary called FISH! which explored four simple practices that people could apply to be successful.

Today, these four practices are the FISH! Philosophy, globally-recognised for inspiring teams and developing positive cultures.

FISH! is a fantastic tool for people to better understand each other, their leadership style and culture and how this impacts on business.
