Connection starts with participation.
Our Play Philosophy
The power of play for your team
What might you discover about your people when they have a different challenge in front of them?
Someone who rarely speaks in meetings may see the solution first. Colleagues from different departments might find themselves building a bike together. A leader may need to step back and follow someone else’s idea.
Play creates opportunities for these different interactions. A shared challenge gives people a reason to exchange ideas, try something unfamiliar and enjoy each other’s company. For leaders, it offers a fresh perspective on how their people contribute and work together.
At Corporate Challenge Events, this is the thinking behind the experience. We draw on more than 30 years of play-based team building and our exclusive Australasian partnership with the National Institute for Play, NIFPlay. Our Play Philosophy connects our belief in play with the way we work with teams.
We take the time to understand what is happening in your workplace, recommend a suitable program and lead the experience with your objectives in mind. You can join in, spend time with your people and see where the day takes you.
Different teams. Different possibilities.
Team building programs in Western Australia
Does your team need time to reconnect, a shared challenge to get behind or a more focused conversation about how they work together?
The answer shapes our recommendation. With more than 40 programs and workshops in the CCE range, we can draw on outdoor challenges, charity experiences, creative activities and facilitated learning to find the right approach for your team.
Explore the categories below for inspiration. Our WA team will help you make sense of the options and recommend a program that fits your people, objectives and budget.
Active and adventure programs
Take your team into a different setting, where puzzles, physical challenges and friendly competition give people new reasons to think and work together.
Charity team building
Give your team a shared goal with a contribution beyond the workplace. Work together on challenges that lead to donations such as bicycles, LEGO or essential items.
Creative team activities
Make room for ideas you might never hear around the meeting table. Teams build, create and present together, combining different perspectives along the way.
Problem-solving challenges
Give your team a problem that calls for more than one way of thinking. Colleagues share information, test ideas and decide on their next move together.
Entertainment and team games
Sometimes your people need the chance to enjoy being a team. Bring play, laughter and friendly rivalry into your next celebration or staff gathering.
School team events
Bring teamwork to life through play. Students tackle shared challenges that give them opportunities to listen, contribute and take the lead.
Christmas team activities
Recognise the year your people have shared with a celebration that gets them playing together. Choose festive challenges, team games or an opportunity to give back.
Team building workshops
Give your team time to explore how they work together. Workshops such as FISH! and Belbin combine participation and guided discussion with ideas to apply at work.
Cooking team challenges
Bring different tastes and ideas to the table. Food-based challenges get colleagues planning, preparing and creating together, with a little friendly competition in the mix.
Three ways to bring people together
Team building ideas for your WA team
An outdoor competition, a shared contribution or a game of calculated risks? These three programs show how play can bring different team objectives to life.
Outdoor teamwork
Survivor
A shared challenge. Plenty of different strengths.
Tribes compete in mental, physical and creative challenges before a final Tribal Council. As the tasks change, teams need to rethink their strategy and draw on different people’s strengths. Expect lively competition and plenty of reasons to back your teammates.
Charity team building
Bikes for Tykes
Build together. Give together.
Teams tackle challenges before assembling bicycles for donation to children in need. There are decisions to make, parts to fit and a shared responsibility to get the build right. The finished bikes give the team’s effort a purpose beyond the competition.
Strategy & decisions
Risk Reward
How will your team play its next move?
Teams create fictional companies, pitch playful products and choose challenges with different risks and returns. Success calls for weighing up the options, knowing when to back an idea and bringing people with you on the decision. The aim is to grow your company’s funds, with a few twists along the way.
Shane made it super easy to organise the day and was able to answer any and all questions I had.

Your questions answered
Choosing the right team building experience
How do I know what will work for my team?
That’s where our experience comes in. We start with what is happening in your team and what you want the time together to achieve. Then we recommend the program, format and facilitation to suit. You don’t need to arrive with an activity chosen or a detailed brief. Helping you make that decision is part of our job.
What if my team rolls their eyes at team building?
We take that seriously. A team that dislikes the spotlight may respond to a shared build, while another group might enjoy the energy of competition. Our range gives us different ways to approach participation. We recommend with your people in mind and use our Challenge by Choice approach to respect individual comfort levels. The aim is to invite people into play and give them a worthwhile experience together.
Can one team day really make a difference?
A team day can give people a shared experience to build on. It can create opportunities for colleagues to connect, contribute differently and see something new in each other. Lasting changes in team culture also depend on what happens at work afterwards. If you want to connect the experience to everyday behaviours, we can recommend a team building workshop or a combined format with room for reflection and practical next steps.
Should we choose a team building activity or a team building workshop?
Choose an activity when the priority is a shared experience, connection or celebration. A team building workshop provides more structured time to examine how people work together and explore approaches they can use in the workplace. We can also combine the two, pairing guided learning with an opportunity to play together. We’ll recommend the approach around your team’s needs, available time and facilitator availability.
Can we bring our values to life through a charity program?
Yes. Charity team building gives your people a practical way to contribute together, whether that means assembling bicycles for children or working towards another community donation. We’ll recommend a program that connects with the cause you want to support and confirm the beneficiary and donation arrangements. If you have an existing charity relationship, we can explore how it might fit.
Can you make this work for a regional gathering or conference?
Yes. We plan suitable experiences around your location and agenda, including events beyond Perth. Our WA team will assess the venue, available time, facilitator travel and equipment requirements, then recommend a workable format. You’ll have the relevant delivery arrangements and costs set out in your proposal.
How do we get the best value from our team building budget?
Start with the reason you’re investing in the day. We’ll recommend options that suit your priorities and budget, explaining what is included and what affects the cost. Participant numbers, program, duration, venue and regional delivery requirements all play a part. Our role is to help you choose an experience that uses your team’s time and your budget well.
